Let’s not forget, soft skills still matter.
As artificial intelligence continues to dominate conversations across industries, professionals are finding ways to integrate AI into their daily work. While strong technological skills are valuable assets, effective communication remains one of the most critical qualities in today's workplace.
Organizations thrive when team members can clearly express their ideas through both written and verbal communication.
Throughout my years as a higher education mid-level manager, administrator, and faculty member, I have frequently been asked to present information, facilitate discussions, and navigate challenging conversations. The communication skills I developed during my graduate education have been instrumental in strengthening my abilities in conflict resolution, strategic thinking, collaboration, and decision-making.
Providing education and other professionals with targeted training in communication, presentation, leadership, and interpersonal skills can significantly improve workplace productivity and effectiveness. Collective efforts are needed to develop both emerging professionals and mid-level managers by strengthening these essential soft skills.

Use AI to support routine and mundane tasks but equip professionals with the soft skills they need through continued professional development.
