Hard questions helped me grow as a leader. As a mid-level manager, I was fortunate to work with incredible educators. Curiosity and a shared dedication to improving the student experience guided our meetings and conversations. My team consistently asked thoughtful and necessary questions. Why is this process in place? How does it improve the student experience?
Through those conversations, I learned the importance of preparation. Preparation is Power.
Being well prepared for meetings meant engaging stakeholders in advance, understanding multiple perspectives, and staying informed about emerging issues in higher education. Most importantly, I learned to empower higher education and business professionals to ask questions.
Their curiosity challenged my decision-making, strengthened my leadership, and led to better decisions for students.
Care, connect, and walk in your purpose.
